After a late night I had to get up early for whale watching. Right when Ben and I go there I told him that all the Americans were giving me a hard time about not seeing a whale and if we didn't see one on this shift I wanted to go to Lorne to see them. Three minutes later a mother whale and her calf surfaced. I was super excited! They were just resting at the surface. We watched them for 20 minutes before they continued swimming east. While we watched them, I had to explain to Ben why whales were whales and not fish. It boiled down to him coming to the conclusion that whales are whales because they breast feed. I gave in and said, "close enough." Here is the photo Ben took from his iphone...
Then 5 minutes later another whale surfaced at first it didn't look like a right whale, we thought it may have been an orca. After watching for a few more seconds we could see it was a right whale. For the 15 minutes appeared to be alone. We thought it was a lone male whale because we couldn't see a calf. All of the sudden the whale started to do body rolls and as I was watching a little fin came out of the water. It was so cute!!! The baby was on the far side of the mom and was copying her body rolls. All we could really see of the baby were the little flippers that would appear.
I finally saw my whale. I had to get back for morning tea with the new Americans. We talked to some of the lecturers for a little while before we went on a tour of the labs and the aquaculture facility. This group is getting spoiled. We all got goodie bags too with... school supplies.
I took a nap to try and catch up before dinner. I went with Ben's family to the Borgus' house. It is one of the former pastors family. It was a great night! His wife Barbara is from Germany and one of her granddaughters called her oma. It was so cute! Ben asked me if it made me a little home sick. It kind of did. I miss being around mine and Eric's family. I was very tired when I got back to uni and fell right asleep.

In the morning I talked to my dad for a little bit. I got a tour of his apartment in Iowa. I'd have to say he looks like he is in uni not me! Afterwards, I picked up my camera and picked up a few supplies for later on in the day. At the dinner the night before Ben P. asked if I would like a tour of his fish hatchery. He began raising gold fish to aid in the longevity of sewage ponds. He raises the fish to put them in so they reduce the amount of sludge. It is an ingenious idea. To offset the costs of the project he also raises fish for the pet store trade. We got to see the 5 day old babies up to the adults that were getting ready to be breed. It was really interesting. At the end we got to pick out a reject to bring home!

We got her set up in her bowl until we could get a good tank. Then we all relaxed and watched the Big Bang Theory. In the evening we all headed to a house warming party. It was a great way to introduce the newbies to a lot of Australians. I had fun catching up with all my friends. I ended up heading back home instead of going out to get some sleep after the party.

This morning I sang in church again. The service was at 11 and there was a buffet lunch afterwards. It was great to talk to some new people in the church and get spoiled with good food. After church, I set up the fish's new tank. We decided to name her Princess Moonda. Princess because she is a spoiled little fishy and Moodna means tiger shark in an aboriginal dialect.
I relaxed the rest of the afternoon. Then Azra and I went over to Ben's for dinner and a movie. It was a very easy going night. I also go to hang out with the dogs again! Ben's family is on dog sitting duty this week.
