Olympic Park

July 1st, 2014

My last day in Sydney! In the morning I packed and talked to Eric before I checked out at 11. I headed to Olympic Park. I was a lovely train ride out of the city to the old olympic grounds. I wandered around for awhile looking at the remnants of the olympics. Most of the stadiums have been converted into Australian sports arenas. There was also a kids festival taking place for the school holidays.

These were the olympic mascots.

Continuous timers to show how world record events took.

How high the high jumpers, pole vaulters, and other events went.

Then I was off to the Aquatic Center! I spent my afternoon there. I was able to do lap swim int he olympic pool. I got a full work out in and then went to the hot tub. It was great!

His feet are HUGE!

His hands are so big they couldn't fit his feet.

The Olympic hallway had a bunch of plaques and videos to watch about the history of the building and recapping the olympics. It also talked about other events that have been held here too.

I wasn't able to get on the spring bards but I did see the Australian team diving coach. I also saw the swim team stretching before their work out. After I left the pool I headed to the train station to get to the airport.

I got there early and hooked into the free wifi and caught up with the world. I also got some postcards done too! Later, I moved to my gate and met a girl a little older than me. She asked me to mind her bags and bought me a hot chocolate for doing so. I enjoyed talking to her and we exchanged information so that I went I go to Melbourne she can show me around.

The flight was short and when we landed I realised just how cold it was. I put on another sweatshirt before meeting Ben. He laughed at how bundled up I was. We made our way back to Warrnambool, and by 2:30am I was sleeping in my own bed again!
