Gardens and Things

June 30th, 2014

Sonia left early in the morning, so I was all by myself again. I got an early start and headed for the Chinese gardens. It is winter here so there weren't many flowers in bloom but it was peacefully beautiful!

Mu-shu!

Then I walked over to the Australian Opal Cutters. They did cutting tours. It was not exactly what I was expecting. It was just a family run business. I did learn a lot! I wasn't able to take photos, but I did get to hold a $100,000 opal. The owner tried to get me to buy an opal but I just was there to learn about them.

Then I was on my to the Harbour bridge but I stopped at the Queen Victoria Building first. I was a very fancy shopping mall!

There was also a beautiful clock in the middle of the building. It told the date, day, and time. It had statues and pictures depicting the settlement of Australia, and the aboriginal story.

Then I was off to Harbour Bridge! Here is the view from the start of my walk across the bridge.

After my walk I headed to the botanical gardens to eat my lunch and take a look around. Here is a point overlooking the Rocks and the bridge.

I found a rock in a similar shape to a chair and ate my lunch. It was a cool day but the sun really warmed me up!

Then I toured the gardens and Government House on the grounds.

Cormorants nesting

Some military helicopters flew overhead

This scared me. I came around the corner and saw the crocodile and thought it was real at first, but then upon closer inspection it was just a floating head statue.

On my way back to the hostel, I found another old fashioned looking mall.

I ate my leftover food from the night before and relaxed in the evening! I was tired after all my walking!
