Sonia's First Day in Sydney

June 28th, 2014

I tried to sleep in but was unsuccessful. I got up and organised my things instead. Megan texted me and said they were going to Market city. It was close to my hostel so I joined. Nick, Trevor, Megan, and I went around to all the stands. We also explored the fresh fruits and veggies market. We tried Logan's berries and a Custard Apple. They were interesting, but the taste grew on you.

Sonia called and said she had arrived so I went back to the hostel to meet her. We wondered back to the market so I could exchange emails with Megan. We said said our good-byes and Sonia and I were off exploring. We found the light up staircase. It was posting the scores of the FIFA games and there was a place where everyone was watching the games.

Then we wandered down to Darling Harbour. There was a winter festival that was taking place. There snowy trees and and ice rink. It was funny to see people watching the skaters in shorts and t-shirts.

We then walked to Circular Quay to get ice cream and see the Opera House.

The Rocks, is another famous area by the Opera house. It was filled with market stands and stores. We wandered about for awhile and booked our aquarium and harbour tour trip.

There was also a fusball game. It marked the place where the longest game had happened. We tried to play but it didn't work out so well.

A storm began to blow in as we walked to the Opera House. The clouds were remarkable!

When we got up the stairs of the Opera House there as a strong wind tunnel. People were taking videos of themselves trying to run against the wind. It was kind of scary. We decided to leave shortly after and head back to the hostel.

We got cleaned up and headed out to find dinner. We went to the other side of train station to Crown Street and found a nice little cafe. The meals were extremely good! We were happy and full, but still a little chilly. We found a hot chocolate shop near our hostel on the way home. It was AMAZING! I was drinking liquid chocolate.

Both of us were full, happy, and sleepy when we got back.
