The 4th of July!

July 2nd, 2014

I still woke up early even from getting back so late. I started cleaning and talked to Eric and my Grandparents and sister. It was great to talk to them and tell them about all my adventures. Shortly after I got off Skype, Lianna invited me to go into with her and Aiden. It was great to catch up with her and just explore town a little bit more. When I got back I began to clean and organise everything until bed.

July 3rd

I slept in a little longer, but got up and finished my laundry and went through emails. Ben dropped off some things that Jenny left for the Americans that were on their way. Then I talked to my dad for awhile about my trip. After lunch, the three of us went back into town. I has tot drop off my cameras for repair. When I got back, Ben asked me if I would like to go along taking Killer to the vet. I said yes. Killer had an abscess on his face from a fight he was recently in. Despite the name, Killer is an angel at the vet. He didn't cry or move at all when the vet was draining the abscess. It was a different story when it was time for his temperature to be taken. He did not approve. I was invited over for dinner after the vet ordeal and I took my computer to show Ben's family my photos from my trips.

THE 4th of JULY!!

America's birthday! Obviously it is not celebrated here. I had whale watching in the morning. We didn't see any whales but Ben was giving me a hard time about being so patriotic.

Afterwards, I talked to Eric and his family in the morning. They had just gotten back from a parade. As soon as I got off skype I had to start my baking. Ben invited me over again for a pseudo- 4th of July party. Beck was coming too so it was going to be fun either way. I thought I would bring the patriotic spirit!

I also made guacamole, I found a new use for my chemistry goggles in the process.

The oven is very temperamental and my cupcakes ended up looking like turtles. I invited Lauren to help me eat the heads. She just laughed. She was my official taste tester of the day.

Before going to Ben's we went to wine tasting with one of the former pastors from the church in Warrnambool. I couldn't believe how many people showed up. It is the place to be on a Friday night in Warrnambool.

The cupcakes were a hit! They were all eaten between 4 people. It was a fun night. It wasn't the same as it would have been back home, but it was still great! Beck and I just giggle anytime we are around each other and Ben's family thought it was hilarious.

July 5th

I slept in and then worked on my blog. I started making more cupcakes for the Welcome/ American 4th of July celebration. Ben, Chris, Heather, and I ran to the store to pick up things for the "cookout." I finished the cupcakes right before 3.

The other Americans arrived shortly after.  They were all very tired, but hopefully they enjoyed having a little bit of a 4th of July and food after their long journey. We all sat around and talked for awhile before they began settling in. While my new housemates were unpacking, Lauren and I made an Aussie to American translation poster. It was a great way for all of us housemates to talk and laugh right away. Then we moved to the living room to watch the footy match. Azra came over and we worked on our blogs.
