O-Week is the Orientation week for all the first year students. It is a time to integrate everyone into campus. I am technically a 4th year student but a first year student here so I attended the morning meetings to see what they were all about. I ended up being the only international student to show up. It is weird to be the foreigner in the room. Anyway there were a few speakers then we got a tour of campus. I hadn't had a complete tour so it help me to get everything completely worked out. We also did some team building activities. The best part of O-Week is the free food. During lunch all the clubs and other activities were set up for us to do. I signed up for my first night snorkel next week. It should be a lot of fun. I also talk to some of the girls currently on the netball team about trying out. I am going to try out tomorrow. Lianna and I also did the rock wall. It was pretty easy but a lot of fun at the same time!
The rest of the afternoon I hung out with some of the Americans and a few Aussies. I had to take a nap though. I still have not been sleeping completely through the night so I had to break down and sleep before the evening festivities.
During O-Week the University Student Association sponsors parties. Tonight was the beach party. We all dressed up in beachy clothes. Some of us decided to wear some snorkeling gear.
What was really interesting about the party was it was a silent disco. So we all got head phones that had 3 different channels that we could listen to.
We put them on and picked a channel, walked around and danced. It was very different but a lot of fun. There was also a photo booth there that we all had fun taking pictures in. They are going to help decorate my room a little since it is so empty. It was a new experience but a lot of fun. I am not sure what the rest of the week hold BUT it is supposed to be close to 40 degrees Celsius here tomorrow so we are going to the rope swing in the river and/ or possibly snorkeling. I don't know for sure yet but I am going to get some sleep so I can enjoy the beautiful weather tomorrow!
