A Little Piece of Home

March 2, 2014

Today I was invited by Jen, UWW student, to go to lunch and church. We got lunch at Fishtales downtown and then headed over to Trinity Lutheran Church. In Australia they do not have the different synods that we do in the United States. It is a very quaint little church.

Everyone was very friendly when we arrived. The greeter was a very nice older lady and told me I looked very lovely (of course in a very cute Australian accent). The service was an installation for the new pastor. At the end of the service many of the pastors in Warrnambool and wait for it... the Catholic priest came to give their greetings to the new pastor. The church really felt like a community bringing all the different denominations together. Afterwards, there was desserts, coffee, and tea. I tried some things I haven't seen before. I asked an Aussie what the dessert was and the answer "a cream filled thing." Very descriptive. I chatted with a few of the younger people from the church. Both were a couple years out of Uni and were very kind. It made me feel a little more at home being at church.

The rest of the day I let myself be lazy! I talked with my house mates and watched TV shows. We are finally up to 9 people in my building. It is less empty! Tomorrow all of us "first years" start our O-Week. It looks like it will be a very long day tomorrow so I am going to bed early!
