Monday morning I woke up and had completely lost my voice from my head cold. Of course, Nick thought it was hilarious and had to be cheeky about it the entire morning. I was thankful when he left for class! ;) It was very quite and productive day otherwise. I work on homework the whole day taking a break for class. Late in the afternoon, I had a surprise though.
The doors had been opened up during the day and this Willy Wagtail (the actual name) and flown right into my room. I was so focused on homework it took me a few minutes to realise he was in my room. I yelled for Nick to come help me get it out. He was in his towel on the way to the bathroom when I yelled. Eventually, we got my window open and he was able to fly free.
The rest of the evening was more homework. Nick persuaded me to come to the supermarket with him for a break... his way of making me feel better. I ended up getting the best Australian comfort food there is!
Tiger bread and TimTams!!!
Tuesday- The Great Ocean Road
I finally was feeling better in the morning, which was great because Ben was taking me on the famous Great Ocean Road. It's an ordinary road with an extraordinary view! The first stop was Murnanes Bay and Childers Cove
After a quick peak of the coast we began our 12 Apostles Food Artisans tour. First stop...
These are the few of the beverages we sampled along with hearing the stories of how the distillery came to be. We also sampled the best Whiskey in all of Australia. The Chocolate liquor was still my favourite though!
The Mousetrap... as you might guess is where we tried some cheeses. It is owned by a Frenchman who uses authentic French Cheese recipes.
One of my favourite cheeses here was the Garlic and Oil Feta.
Then to...
They had the best Havarti cheese. Ben and I both brought some home.
Then a little piece of heaven...
Ben said they should I have given me a basket to carry my chocolate. I didn't have that much. I picked a good sample though!
We then took a break from food and went to the 12 Apostle Islands!
The coast along this part of Australia is called shipwreck coast for a very good reason. We learned about a ship that ran aground near the place called Loch Ard Gorge in 1878.
We continued on our way to Port Campbell for lunch and at the 12 Rocks Beach Bar.
Then we began our way back to Warrnambool along the Great Ocean Road stopping in Peterborough.
Look what we found...
Ben's last name is Croft.... this bay was named in honour of the first settlers of his family to this area.
Last stop was Cheese World. Here we tried many different kinds of cheddar cheese.
Then I was back at Uni. I took a power nap before Sonia's Birthday party.
I ate so much food and so much cake! It was delicious. I was so happy to celebrate with Sonia after such a wonderful day!
Here are some snap shots that Ben took of me throughout the day
Wednesday
I finished all my assignments for the semester!! Whoo Hoo! In the morning I caught up with some people back home. Then I went surfing with Bucket and Alix. It a very short surfing trip. The waves were breaking pretty close to shore so it was work to get out there. I caught a couple good waves again, but I was happy to get out after 20 mins. The cold water was not helping my cold.
GIS took me about 5 hours but I finished! I was officially done with all my assignments! I celebrated by watching a little TV with my housemates. Now all I have left is studying for exams.
