The Little Things that Brighten the Day

April 8th, 2014

Sunday as usual was church in the morning and homework in the afternoon. By the time I finished, Lachie and Michael had come around looking for some people to play Frisbee. Everyone else still had work to do so the three of us headed down to the beach to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. It ended up being a little too windy to play for a long time, so we resorted to swimming in the waves.
Lachie offered to make dinner for me so I bought a bottle of wine to go along with it.

Then we all sat around and watched the footy match. It wasn't much of a game so the guys resorted to showing me the best plays and worst hits on youtube. After the game, I headed back to uni and talked to my housemates before bed. The perfect Sunday afternoon!

Monday was mostly a school work day. I did get to talk to Eric in the morning (that always makes the day better)! In the evening I went to a Fishcare meeting. Fishcare is a volunteer program that I am hoping to get involved with. It teaches people in the community about fishing and about the basics of aquatic ecology. After my meeting I headed back to my house. Nick and I sat and worked on our assignments. He had a huge paper due by midnight and finished it just in time. He wanted to go for a run, but we negotiated a walk around campus. It was really funny because he tried to catch a rabbit but failed miserably. It was great to be laughing so hard after working on my own paper for a long time.

Today has been rainy. When I came home from my morning run I looked like I had gone for a swim in my clothes. About 15 minutes after being home Nick knocked on my door. To put it nicely... he needed coffee, he looked so tired. A few second later Emily walks into my room asking for help to open window because she locked her keys in her room. Nick and I head outside with her to figure out if we can essentially break into her room even though her window is completely shut. Well we did... he got the window open wide enough for me to climb up and into her room. He made the comment that we should make this a business on campus since this happens all the time. I just settled for the breakfast of champions...

Then I was off to work on my group project. Afterwards, I got to talk to Deidre! It made the very gloomy day seem so much better! Then off to the gym I went with Nick. I made him do the abs that I did for diving. He, like the rest of us, struggled to get through the first set. He teased me for being a diver and today I showed him that diving is a real sport.

The rest of the evening was just hanging with my housemates and relaxing, BUT we had a fury friend come and visit! Meet Lulu

Getting her favourite spots scratched

Sarah loving Lulu

She loves being held like a baby

Lulu is Lauren's (my housemates) friend's dog. She snuck her in for a short visit. Sarah and I loved it! We just wanted to keep her! Lulu made us all forget about homework stress and the gloomy weather. Animals seem to be magical in that way.
