Our biological clocks were still set to Warrnambool time, so we were up at 7am Perth time. We slowly got out of bed and headed to the grocery store for some peanut butter, bread, and fruit. We had breakfast on our floor when we returned. This is the definition of college travel.
We began planning our plan of attack for the day. We then headed to the train station, not being exactly sure of what we were doing. 30 minutes later we were on the beach and getting in the Indian Ocean.
There was a strong rip tide so our swim time was short. Our napping and watching the waves and people kept us occupied for awhile. We eventually walked down the beach exploring.
We then caught the train into Freemantle and welcomed into a festival. The main street was filled with people. Alix and I decided our first mission was food. We were diverted by a street performer first.
After lunch we wondered around the table set up in the town square. There was a Mary Kay booth. The ladies were so excited we had heard of it before, and that we were Americans. They were kind and wished us well in our travels and studies
At the end of the square there was a man outside a bus. He asked us if we wanted to go inside. Our facial expressions must have explained our initial thoughts because he quickly said it was a lollie shop. We laughed and walked in...
The rest of the afternoon we walked from one street performer to the next. They were great!
We didn't plan on it, but the festival was a lot of fun! Catching the train back to Perth we knew it was time to get cleaned up and find food. When we got to our room our roommates were there so we chatted awhile as they were turning in for the night. Alix and wondered around for food and wifi. We eventually found both after exploring London court.
After our tummies were full, we set out to find St. Mary's Cathedral. A mass was coming out of the church when we arrived. We took some photos and found our way back to the hostel to we could find it again in the morning.
Just as we were getting back there were fireworks! We thought they might be for Easter but we found out they are shot off every weekend. The moon made for a beautiful backdrop though!
