Saturday was a very lazy day. In the afternoon I did go out and help out with the Fishcare project again. This time we were doing quadrats on the beach.
We didn't end up finding a lot of litter on the beach. This is a good sign but it made the study part of the whole thing boring. We did find entertainment in looking at the bugs, shells, and other natural things on the beach.
When dinner time rolled along Nick invited me to go get turkish Kebabs. I was more than happy to since I did not feel like cooking. We stopped at the grocery store to get some little things to get us through the rest of the week before we all leave for break. When we were done we got dinner! The man who owns the shop was so kind and picked the chicken one for me to try. It was delicious and went very well with chips!
The rest of the night all of us in the house relaxed and watched tv shows.
Sunday!
Church was at 11 and I had to get there by 10 to rehearse the songs I was singing, so I was able to sleep in a little. Lots of people were in church today since it was Palm Sunday. I was a lot more nervous to sing but it went very well. A woman came up to me during our lunch reception and said that I gave her goosebumps when I was singing. Some of the other people kept asking how long I was staying in Australia. Ben and some others, I think, are conspiring to try and keep me here forever. I wouldn't mind if I could have everyone I love move here too!
After church, it was time to hit the ocean. Nick has been keen to go snorkelling all week but the conditions have not been good until today. Emily tagged along so that we could go shopping after to get some things for Sam's birthday dinner afterwards. I was such a beautiful day! The visibility between some of the rocky reefs was great!
Just as he hits is very first fish!
Nick was super excited when we got back to shore. Emily met as as we got out because she hear Nick yell from the water after he caught his fish. She informed us we had been in the water for two hours. It had only felt like one.
We quickly got our shopping done so we could head back to uni to get cleaned up start making Sam's birthday dinner. Emily and I make lasagna, salad, and cake, while Nick cleaned and cooked his fish. We all sat and ate together to have a family celebration for Sam!
We all ended up sitting around the table for another couple hours laughing and listening to music. The girls entertained us with dances from the past and Nick looked through my fish book pretending to be the animals in the pictures. It was a lot of fun and I think Sam really enjoyed it! It was a super Sunday!
