We woke up and got ready for church at St. Mary's Cathedral.
It appeared that it was remodeled recently inside but most of the old gothic architecture remained. The stain glass inside was beautiful!
The service was interesting to say the least. The priest was of Asian decent and had a very thick accent, which made it very hard to understand what he was saying. We also didn't grab an order of service but we did have the hymns. It was a mess but an experience none-the-less.
Afterwards, we went to the basement to look at the art that was on display and headed back to the hostel to change. We quickly packed a lunch and headed out for Kings Park. I thought I knew which way we had to go but when we arrived at the end of Wellington street I realised we had gone the wrong way. We did however get to see the Western Australia Cricket Association Stadium.
We took a different route on the right way to Kings Park and stopped at Queen's Gardens.
Then we visited the Perth Mint.
Then we stopped at Stirling Park for lunch after taking pictures with the kangaroo statues.
On the road again... to Swan Bell Tower.
We didn't take the tour to the actual bells but we were able to go inside and explore the first floor. There were also love locks locked outside the tower.
Finally we were off to Kings Park... our original destination. We first had to climb a large hill, but stopped to look at the flowers along the way.
Then we arrived!
The botanical gardens is where we spent most of our time. The vegetation was from around Australia. It was also a special place for the aboriginals. We went into the aboriginal art gallery where we learned that women of child bearing age do not play the didgeridoo if they want to have children. We then took our walk around the park.
The DNA tower... Alix and I loved this because it is BIOLOGY :) It also had an information sign talking about DNA and its structure... nerdy, I know.
The gum tree paths...
We stopped at "The Best Kebabs, Pizza, and Pides in Perth." The younger man working there was amazed at how much food Alix and I ate. We were hungry and the kebabs and chips were delicious. We felt like we were waddling home a a little bit, but we made it.We cleaned up and made our plan for the rest of the week. We wanted ice cream and internet so we headed to McDonalds. They only had slushies, so we had our dessert facebooked and facetimed before finishing up our travel plans. By the time we finished all we wanted was to go to bed.
