Friday
I slept in and then did some work. I also began looking into what I wanted to do while I am in Sydney. Lunch eventually rolled around and while I was doing this dishes this was my view outside...
This is my mate Nick... channeling Brad Pit? Who knows...
We all had a pretty good laugh about it. After awhile it was time for me to head to whale watching training. It took about an hour to explain what we had to do and what we were looking for. There weren't any whales though.
When I got back, Annabel invited me to go for a walk with her alone the beach trail. It was great to get out of the house and enjoy the nice day. We talked about life and all that fun stuff, but when we got to the break wall we watched the seals playing.
I can't get over how beautiful seals are in the water. It is almost like they are constantly playing and happy. I feel like that when I have been out of the water for a long time, but I am sure I don't look that graceful.
The rest of the night I relaxed in my room and went to bed early.
Saturday
I got up to work out and then began studying. Most of the day was studying until I headed to church to practice the songs we were singing the next day. Pastor Mathew came in and told us the American- Australia had been closed so we would just have to stay here forever. Jenny and I laughed.
Practice went really well. Jenny and I are a really good singing match. I think the Aussies like to listen to us sing too because we pronounce some words differently. The rest of the afternoon was studying. I eventually took a break to do a movie night at Nras. The Red Frogs (community involvement group) made free popcorn (so of course I was there... it's POPCORN). I also got to catch up with V-ness. It was a lot of fun and relaxing!
Sunday
Church was at 11 so I got ready and started a practice exam before heading to church to do one last run through of the songs. It went really well. Everyone is very excited about having the American girls sing. The service was recorded so eventually I will be given a recording of us singing. The tech guy said it turned out really well and sounds very beautiful.
As you guessed it... I studied the rest of the day.
For dinner we had a going away party for Katie. She is leaving for vacation and then home in a couple days.
Monday... Exam Day
I had to get up early for my 9 am exam. I was struggling to wake up so I scrolled through facebook. I came upon my SCUBA instructor's post. It had the acronym lolmf and he defined it as "laugh out loud mask floods." I was laughing so hard at this I am sure I woke Nick and Lauren up. Oh, the nerdy SCUBA humour!
My exam went really well. They have a much different exam system here. We do not know where our exam is until the morning of and we are assigned seats. We are not allowed into the room until a minute before. There is also a 15 minute reading period where we are not allowed to have any writing utensils. I was ready to go after 5 minutes of reading but I had to wait. The multiple choice went really well. I worked up until the last second on my short answer. I think I smashed it!
I talked to friends before making lunch and talking to Eric. It felt so good to be done with that exam. I only have one left, but I was not about to start studying for it today. Kettle put up a message on facebook asking if anyone was interested in going SCUBA diving. I was keen! It turned into koala "hunting" (seeking for photos) first.
We decided to go snorkelling instead of diving, so when I got ready and returned to Sherwood A...
No one else wanted to go snorkelling so Kettle and I headed to Killarney to try out a new spot. The visibility today was spectacular! I couldn't have asked for a better way to relax after my exam. Plus, I just finished a class on marine biology... I might as well go out an experience everything I just learned.
There were hundreds of little jelly fish floating in the water. We weren't sure what kind they were so we tried not to touch them.
Cool video of sea stars fighting over territory
I got back to uni and cleaned up my gear. I made dinner and ate quickly so I could make it to bible study. It was a good evening!
