Rough Seas

Sunday August 10th, 2014

We were supposed to be going tuna fishing after church, but a storm had started blowing in over night and the ocean was too rough. It was disappointing, but Ben ended up taking me to Port Fairy to see the sites there. 

We stopped at the Basalt winery on the way and tried some very good white wines. 

We ate lunch at a park with this view.

After lunch Ben took me along the coast to check out how much it had changed since the storm. This is Pea Soup.

Then we stopped and did the walk around Griffiths Island.

After the long walk around the island we drove to a the Crags Lookout. It started to rain so we didn't stay too long.

We headed back to Warrnambool. I took a cat nap before we headed over to Beck's house for a chick flick night. It was all of us girls with Ben, Alex, and Josh. It was a blast. Josh, the chef, cooked up all our food on the barbie and we sat around and laughed. Jackie also go to meet Pearl.

Jackie and I decided to splurge and get Dr Peppers when we were at the store. They were delicious. It was actually from Britain though since Australia does not allow high fructose corn syrup. 

We watched the movies Take the Lead and The Lucky One. It was the best night in!!

Monday August 11, 2014

My morning was filled with Facetime calls and my afternoon was filled with working on projects. It was not very exciting. It ended up being a good laundry day too. Storms kept on rolling through so I took a break to have a nap to make my headache go away. 

The evening was relaxing. We were supposed to have small group but the group consisted Alex, Ben and me. We just ended up talking for couple hours. I returned home and watched Have You Been  Paying Attention. It is my favourite Australian show. Then I headed for bed.

I slept in! It was going to be our shopping day. We had been offered a ride by one of the Aussies so Jackie and I were just waiting from them to get up. Anthony finally woke up at noon. Luckily I was able to get some work done in the morning before grocery shopping. Jackie and I came back afterwards and put away groceries, made lunch, and did some more work. I headed over to Ben's house for dinner. I actually helped to make it this time. It was very good. Then he, his dad, and I worked on the itinerary for my family for when they arrive. I wanted to get a plan taken care of this week so I can just focus on school after this break. After we worked it all out. We watched the movie Transcendence.

My morning started off with talking to Eric. I was still pretty sleepy, so he had fun teasing me about that. After I woke up, I got up and ate some breakfast before my meeting. I scheduled a meeting to go over some of my veterinary school application essays with the career advisor on campus. She is so positive and helpful! I have to say that I am so impressed with her willingness to help and she really does take the time to go through it all with me. 

Then I started making lunch. The afternoon was filled with... you guessed it... more work on my applications. They feel like they are never ending right now. It will be worth it in the end I am sure. It was so beautiful outside. We moved our study party outside.

Spring is just around the corner and I couldn't be happier. I am ready for the warm weather to come back. But where else in he world can you get a tan in winter!? I am nervous for going back to Wisconsin. I am going to have a shock when I get back.

For dinner, we got together and made enchiladas. We wanted to have a family dinner and celebrate Azra's birthday. The enchiladas were amazing and Jackie made a fantastic birthday cake!

Afterwards we watched a movie before heading to bed!
