My day began with rude awaking by a very obnoxious birds (Corellas). They look very cute but the sounds they make are not. Here is a link to information about them... http://birdlife.org.au/bird-profile/long-billed-corella
Then I had an orientation meeting for all the international students. We were able to ask all our questions and get shown around campus. It is a very small campus compared to back home. All the lecturers (Professors) and staff we met were extremely nice. We got our student IDs, books, and everything else taken care of.
In the afternoon we had our swim test for our marine biology class. Our lecturer took us to the pool so we didn't have to worry about catching the right bus! It wasn't too bad but I was a little sore after. I also got sun burnt in a very short amount of time. I was then informed there is no ozone, so sunscreen has become my new perfume/ moisturizer. We got a short tour of the city by car before we came back to uni and got cleaned up for dinner.
We met up with most of the other Whitewater students and got dinner at Fish Tales. All the Americans got burgers and chips of course. By the way it is not "katchup" it is "tomato sauce" here. Afterwards, we went out to two of the bars and got drinks and listened to the live music. It was a very relaxing night out after being overloaded with information in the morning.
Overall, it was a very good first day in Australia!
